Express Service Protection Review: Price, Coverage and Claims

Express has the lowest starting monthly example among the four companies we compare here. That makes it worth pricing, especially for powertrain coverage. It has a shorter track record and a small public review sample, though, so don't let a low price or high star rating do all the deciding.

This review is based on published documents, not a firsthand claim. We label information from Chaiz, our affiliate partner. These plans are vehicle service contracts, not manufacturer warranties; your own agreement and state rules determine the coverage.

Who it fits

Is Express Service Protection a good fit for you?

Worth considering for

Shoppers comparing lower-cost powertrain-plus or named-component plans.

Less suited to

Drivers who want a long company track record, or whose engine or transmission is excluded from the quoted plan.

Plans and prices

What does Express Service Protection cost?

PlanChaiz monthly exampleCoverageChaiz-listed coverage durationCovered miles
Enhanced Powertrain$55 to $100/monthBasic Plus3 to 5 yearsUp to 100,000 covered miles
Stated$60 to $110/monthBroad stated coverage3 to 6 yearsUp to 100,000 covered miles

Chaiz labels these as average monthly costs from selected states, not guaranteed quotes or total contract prices. Its profile says monthly payment options apply only to three-year payment terms. Chaiz's general FAQ currently says marketplace plans do not exceed three years, so the live quote and form must resolve that conflict.

The details to check

How coverage and claims work

Who handles claims and is responsible for payment
The 2025 Premium sample names Express Service Protection as administrator. The obligor varies by state, primarily Plateau Service Company, with Plateau Warranty Company in Florida, and the form names Plateau Casualty Insurance Company as the backing insurer.
Which sample contract we could check
Express publishes 2025 sample forms for several tiers. The selected form, declarations page and state amendment still control the customer's coverage.
Vehicle eligibility
Express says Exclusionary generally requires a vehicle no more than 10 years old and under 60,000 miles, while Enhanced Powertrain reaches vehicles up to 20 years old and under 150,000 miles at sale. Other tiers have their own limits and may add covered miles.
Claim process
The Premium sample requires a licensed facility and prior authorization. The buyer can owe unauthorized work or teardown, and an unpaid contract balance may be deducted from a claim. Express says approved repairs are paid by card or check, while rental reimbursement can require the customer to pay first.
Waiting period
The Premium sample requires one month and 1,000 miles, with both thresholds satisfied. Only roadside assistance applies during that wait.
Cancellation and transfer
The Premium sample permits written cancellation. A full refund during the first 30 days requires no claim; otherwise the refund is generally prorated less paid claims and a $75 fee, subject to the state amendment and finance company. Chaiz currently lists a $50 transfer fee. Confirm the timing and state rule in the selected form.

Reasons to shortlist

What we like about Express Service Protection

  • Its lowest published monthly example is below the starting examples for the other priced providers here.
  • Several coverage tiers give newer and older cars different options.
  • You can read current sample contracts before buying, including their claims and cancellation rules.

Before paying

What to check before you buy

  • Match the exact age, odometer and additional-mile limits to the quoted tier; those are three different measurements.
  • Nissan owners should verify the CVT exclusion Chaiz flags against the exact model and current contract.
  • Confirm teardown costs, unpaid-balance deductions, parts rules and whether rental or roadside benefits require reimbursement.

Review evidence

What do customer reviews tell us?

Chaiz displayed a BBB customer rating of 5.0/5 from five reviews and no BBB complaints on August 26, 2026. Five reviews cannot support a broad conclusion about claim quality.

These ratings reflect people who chose to leave a review. They don't tell us what share of all customers had a claim approved or denied. Look for recurring themes, then ask the provider how it handles those situations. Reviews can help you choose questions; the contract supplies the coverage terms.

Our conclusion

Should you ask Express Service Protection for a quote?

Compare Express if keeping the price down is a priority, but only against plans covering the same parts. Its published samples make a useful first check. The shorter track record is a reason to ask more about the claims process, not enough by itself to rule the company in or out.
