We record material corrections here so readers can see what changed and which claims remain under review.
October 18, 2026: recall descriptions and scope corrected
We checked 780 cited campaigns against NHTSA’s current recall API and replaced the titles, defect descriptions, consequences and remedies in 1,200 problem files with official fields. Unsupported symptom lists were removed. Model associations that could not be confirmed are labeled under review.
- 25V366000 concerns a pedestrian warning sound, not the rearview camera.
- 23V651000 concerns an ABS-module brake-fluid leak and fire risk, not a fuel leak.
- 23V181000 concerns an electrical short in trailer wiring, not a hitch detaching.
- 23V652000 concerns an engine-compartment fire risk.
- 21V058000 concerns emergency-call location information, not a no-start condition.
Some NHTSA bulk-file product lists differ from the current API. For example, the current 22V458000 record lists the 2020–2022 Hyundai Venue; the imported 2026 association was removed. Always check the VIN and current manufacturer instructions.

October 18, 2026: counts and cost estimates
Complaint records are deduplicated by ODI number. Vehicle recall campaigns are counted once across model years, with campaign/model-year entries labeled separately. Missing model-name matches are unavailable, not zero. Broader Lexus family records are kept separate from trim-specific counts.
Recall and complaint snapshot: 2026-10-18. Manufacturer communications retain their separately recorded snapshot. Repair benchmarks were rechecked, stale model-specific price ranges were removed, and parts, labor and diagnosis now use one calculation. Published national estimates remain separate from modeled local totals.
October 18, 2026: recall awards withdrawn
The 2026 recall awards relied on model-name matching that needs correction. We have withdrawn the recognition claims, badges, graphics and publisher downloads. Do not reuse the earlier findings while this review is open.
