If a recorded sales call arrives
Hang up without pressing a number, including one offered to remove you from the list. Caller ID can be forged. The FTC recommends call blocking and reporting unwanted calls at DoNotCall.gov. A call about a warranty ending does not establish that any coverage is about to expire. FTC warranty-call guidance.
Check the offer before sharing payment details
- Find your existing coverage. Use the warranty booklet, original purchase agreement or manufacturer's customer service. Check for overlapping coverage before buying a separate contract.
- Identify who owes you a repair payment. Ask for the seller, administrator and legal obligor in writing. A familiar brand on an envelope does not answer that question.
- Read the agreement you would sign. Check covered parts, exclusions, waiting periods, maintenance records, approval before repairs and the maximum payment. Compare the full price, not just a monthly installment.
- Verify the business independently. Use the regulator links in our state guides and a contact number from the company's own site. Registration alone does not prove a plan offers good value.
The FTC warns that unsolicited warranty messages can imply a connection with your dealer or manufacturer and pressure you to pay before you see the terms. A separately purchased service contract is different from the manufacturer's warranty. Read the FTC's contract checklist.
If you already paid
Keep the offer, agreement, receipts and messages. Ask the company named in the agreement about cancellation and record its response. Contact your payment provider promptly if you suspect an unauthorized or fraudulent charge; available remedies depend on the payment and circumstances. Report suspected fraud at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and contact your state consumer authority.
For a disputed covered repair, contact the administrator named in your agreement first. AutoWarranty.Autos cannot approve a claim or cancel a contract sold by another business.
