Endurance Warranty Review: Coverage, Claims and Contracts

Endurance is worth a look if you have an older car and want a provider that also handles claims. You'll need a quote to judge the price. Its plans and state rules differ, so check the actual agreement rather than assuming everything under the Endurance name has the same coverage.

This review is based on published documents, not a firsthand claim. We label information from Chaiz, our affiliate partner. The agreement and state rules determine whether the product is a service contract or insurance and what it covers.

Who handles claims and is responsible for payment
In the 2025 Select Premier sample, Endurance Dealer Services is the administrator and obligor in most states. Florida uses Minnehoma Automobile Association as administrator and Old Republic Insurance Company as obligor. Other forms can name different parties.
Which sample contract we could check
Endurance publishes three sample forms, linked below with their plan families and review limits. VSC-02DE is the Premier sample; its terms must not be applied to Supreme, Superior, Secure Plus, Secure or Advantage.
Vehicle eligibility
Endurance says it generally considers vehicles up to 20 model years old and offers high-mileage options. Mileage eligibility varies by plan and vehicle. Check the quote and declarations page, which lists your selected coverage.
Claim process
The sample requires a licensed shop to obtain authorization before repair. It allows the administrator to reimburse either the shop or the customer. The customer may have to pay teardown costs when the failure is not covered. Endurance marketing describes direct payment after authorization.
Waiting period
The sample uses the time and mileage shown on the application. Chaiz’s profile checked October 18, 2026 summarizes the wait as 30 days and 1,000 miles. Both thresholds must be checked in the quoted form.
Cancellation and transfer
The sample provides a full refund during the first 30 days only when no claim has been filed. Later cancellation is generally prorated using the lesser of elapsed time or mileage, less paid claims and a $50 fee, subject to state amendments. The sample generally requires a transfer request within 30 days and a $50 fee, with state-specific changes possible.

Where to buy and California availability

Endurance offers direct online and telephone sales and a dealer-services channel; it is also listed on Chaiz. Our commission applies to qualifying Chaiz referrals. Compare the actual contract and full price across channels.

Endurance's official site describes California mechanical breakdown insurance underwritten by Security National Insurance Company and administered through Marathon Administrative Company Inc., doing business as Marathon Company Insurance Services. That insurance route is separate from our Chaiz links. Endurance states that its products are unavailable in Massachusetts.

Before paying

What to check before you buy

  • Ask for the exact coverage form, obligor and state amendment attached to the quote.
  • Confirm the waiting period, maintenance proof rules, teardown responsibility and whether replacement parts may be non-OEM, remanufactured or used.
  • Read reviews for recurring issues to ask about. Without the number of active contracts, complaint totals don't tell you how often customers have a problem.
