Model-year records

What the 2019 record can and cannot say

Compared with other Dodge Durango years here, the 2019 total is about 43 reports above the median complaint count in these records. Its raw count is 141, with no denominator for vehicles sold.

Exterior Lighting is the most common displayed tag, with 41 reports. Its 29.1% share describes submitted complaints, not all vehicles on the road.

Engine replacement or major internal repair has the highest midpoint estimate for parts alone, at $7,000. Local labor adds to the bill, while claim rules can limit what the plan pays.

Rearview camera image may not display

A software error can cause the rearview camera image to remain displayed after the vehicle has been shifted out of reverse.

NHTSA campaign 20V191000 includes certain 2019 to 2020 Dodge Durango vehicles. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2020 Jeep Gladiator and Jeep Cherokee, 2019-2020 Ram 1500 Pickup, Ram 2500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Pickup, Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler, and Jeep Renegade and 2019 Dodge Challenger vehicles equipped with 8.4" or 12" radio displays. A software error can cause the rearview camera image to remain displayed after the vehicle has been shifted out of reverse. The lingering rearview image can distract the driver, increasing the risk of a crash.

Symptoms to compare
  • The rearview image may be blank, delayed, distorted or unavailable in reverse
  • An open campaign appears when the complete VIN is checked
  • Some recalled vehicles may show no advance warning before the component fails

Other ways owners describe it: backup camera is black; reverse camera not working; camera screen stays blank; rear camera flickers; no picture when reversing; backup screen freezes.

Which vehicles the source covers
  • 2019 to 2020 Dodge Durango
  • NHTSA campaign 20V191000
  • The manufacturer filing lists 319,610 potentially affected units across the complete campaign.
  • VIN eligibility determines whether this recall applies to an individual vehicle

Safety recall eligibility is based on the VIN and campaign scope, not ordinary warranty mileage. Check the complete VIN even when the vehicle is outside its original warranty.

Check the complete VIN before arranging workBasic check · 5 minutes

Enter the 17-character VIN in NHTSA's recall lookup and ask the manufacturer or an authorised dealer to confirm whether the campaign is open for this vehicle.

Limit: A year, make and model match does not prove that every vehicle is included. The VIN result controls eligibility.

Evidence for this issue

Confirm who pays before authorizing work

A recall remedy follows the campaign and VIN eligibility. A service bulletin provides diagnosis or repair instructions; it does not by itself promise payment. Manufacturer warranty extensions and support programs have their own conditions.

Keep a current problem separate from future coverage

These files do not supply a shop quote. Ask for a diagnosis and written estimate, then check recall remedies or existing coverage. A new vehicle service contract generally excludes pre-existing conditions.
