Model-year records

What the 2020 record can and cannot say

The 2020 record contains 20 submitted complaints, about 29 reports below the median complaint count in these records. Report volume is not a failure probability because vehicle age and sales exposure differ.

Electrical System leads the displayed component tags with 7 reports, accounting for 35% of this year's submitted complaints. Use that signal to inspect coverage wording, not to predict the next repair.

Engine replacement or major internal repair has a midpoint parts estimate of $7,000, before local labor. A service contract can help pay that cost only if both the part and the cause of failure qualify.

Windshield may detach

During manufacturing, the windshield may not have been properly bonded to the vehicle, allowing it to detach in a crash.

NHTSA campaign 21V516000 includes certain 2020 to 2021 Dodge Challenger vehicles. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, and Chrysler 300 vehicles. During manufacturing, the windshield may not have been properly bonded to the vehicle, allowing it to detach in a crash. A windshield that separates from the vehicle during a crash can increase the risk of injury.

Symptoms to compare
  • Wind noise, water intrusion or movement around the glass may be noticed, but warning signs are not guaranteed
  • An open campaign appears when the complete VIN is checked
  • Some recalled vehicles may show no advance warning before the component fails

Other ways owners describe it: windshield coming loose; wind noise around glass; water leaking by windshield; windscreen glue failed; windshield moves; glass bonding recall.

Which vehicles the source covers
  • 2020 to 2021 Dodge Challenger
  • NHTSA campaign 21V516000
  • The manufacturer filing lists 21,258 potentially affected units across the complete campaign.
  • VIN eligibility determines whether this recall applies to an individual vehicle

Safety recall eligibility is based on the VIN and campaign scope, not ordinary warranty mileage. Check the complete VIN even when the vehicle is outside its original warranty.

Limit: Do not buy parts from the campaign description alone. VIN scope, superseded remedies and parts availability can change.

Check the complete VIN before arranging workBasic check · 5 minutes

Enter the 17-character VIN in NHTSA's recall lookup and ask the manufacturer or an authorised dealer to confirm whether the campaign is open for this vehicle.

Limit: A year, make and model match does not prove that every vehicle is included. The VIN result controls eligibility.

Evidence for this issue

Confirm who pays before authorizing work

A recall remedy follows the campaign and VIN eligibility. A service bulletin provides diagnosis or repair instructions; it does not by itself promise payment. Manufacturer warranty extensions and support programs have their own conditions.

Keep a current problem separate from future coverage

These files do not supply a shop quote. Ask for a diagnosis and written estimate, then check recall remedies or existing coverage. A new vehicle service contract generally excludes pre-existing conditions.
