For eligible US vehicles outside California. A new plan generally won't cover an existing problem. Waiting periods and contract limits apply.

Before you choose
A service contract may help with the cost of an eligible future breakdown. Its value depends on the full price, the repairs it actually covers and the risk you are comfortable keeping.
A useful reason to compareYou plan to keep the car, existing coverage is ending, and a large repair would strain your budget.
Check before spendingExisting faults are generally excluded. Check your factory coverage, open recalls and the new plan's waiting period first.

CAPS Golden and Express Stated both showed $2,131 upfront. Their displayed mileage allowances differed by 8,000 miles.
We searched for a 2021 Honda CR-V, 75,000 miles, Texas. The results showed CAPS Golden at $2,131 one-time for three years and 42,000 covered miles; Express Stated at $2,131 for three years and 50,000 miles; and NAAC Exclusionary at $2,778 for three years with unlimited miles shown. Compare the parts lists as well as those allowances. A VIN is needed to confirm the final price.
The Express detail showed a $100 deductible. Electronics, emissions and commercial-use options were separate add-ons.
For the same CR-V search, Express Stated showed $74 per month or $2,131 one-time, a $100 deductible, three years and 50,000 covered miles. Optional commercial use was $10 per month, enhanced electronics $7 per month and emissions $5 per month. None was selected. Read the contract and confirm the payment schedule, limits and final VIN-based price before buying.

Our calculation, using the displayed price
The Express example starts at $2,131 upfront, with a $100 deductible. Now test a hypothetical $4,000 repair.
The entire $4,000 bill qualifies, the claim is authorized and no payment limit reduces it.
One fully eligible claim breaks even at $2,231: $2,131 premium + $100 deductible. That assumes the entire bill qualifies and no limit reduces payment.
The displayed plan price and deductible come from the dated search above. The repair, eligibility percentages and outcomes are illustrations, not a forecast or a claims decision. Taxes, fees, financing, add-ons and other benefits are excluded; actual contract limits still apply.
The evidence behind the comparison
Two plans can use a similar name and still cover different parts. A limit on your shop's hourly rate can also leave you with more to pay.
Express's 2025 sample includes radiator and fuel-injector coverage. Omega's Powertrain Enhanced schedule leaves both out; its Used Stated tier includes them.
Published schedules and sample contracts, rechecked September 16, 2026. These are separate catalog examples, not the Stated quote above. Coverage is subject to each agreement's conditions, and these tiers may not appear in your search.

Your shop's labor rate
If the contract pays less per hour than your shop charges, you can owe more than the deductible.
Our September 4 labor model; eight hours is a fixed illustration, not an average repair. Modeled rates, not collected shop quotes. Parts and tax excluded.

Our September 3 NHTSA snapshot found recall or manufacturer-service records even where complaint counts were zero. Check your VIN and existing coverage before paying for a new plan.
Records do not establish a failure probability or a defect in your vehicle. A service communication may be guidance, and a recall may apply to only some VINs.

You want a plan that fits the car you own and how long you expect to keep it.
Research individual plans and exclusions →Check the end date and mileage limit for each system. Powertrain coverage may last longer than basic coverage. Compare the start date of a new plan to avoid paying for unnecessary overlap.
Check its history, get an inspection and confirm any remaining warranty first. Compare the dealer's offer with independent plans using the full price and the same coverage period.
