What changes the warranty calculation

Across 12 model years, the GMC Yukon records contain 3,776 complaints. The median count per model year is 251 reports. These figures do not account for annual sales.

The 2015 record contains 972 complaint reports. No listed year has a higher raw count, though other years may be tied. This comparison uses all listed years without adjusting for sales or time on the road; it does not establish a failure rate.

Engine replacement or major internal repair has the highest midpoint parts estimate in the applicable list, at $7,000. Check the remaining factory coverage before paying for an extra plan that overlaps with it.

Braking performance may be reduced

If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.

NHTSA campaign 19V761000 includes certain 2015 to 2020 GMC Yukon vehicles. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system. Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.

Symptoms to compare
  • The driver may notice a warning, changed pedal feel or reduced braking, depending on the recalled component
  • An open campaign appears when the complete VIN is checked
  • Some recalled vehicles may show no advance warning before the component fails

Other ways owners describe it: brake pedal feels soft; car takes longer to stop; brake warning light; brakes suddenly weak; brake fluid leaking; parking brake not working.

Which vehicles the source covers

Confirm who pays before authorizing work

A recall remedy follows the campaign and VIN eligibility. A service bulletin provides diagnosis or repair instructions; it does not by itself promise payment. Manufacturer warranty extensions and support programs have their own conditions.
