Buying a vehicle service contract in Washington

Washington's Insurance Commissioner says that, when no claim has been made, returning an auto service contract to the seller within nine calendar days gives a full refund without a cancellation fee. From day 10 through day 30, the guidance permits a cancellation fee of up to $25.

After 30 days with no claim, the guidance describes a refund prorated by time or mileage as specified in the contract, with a fee capped at $25. Keep proof of when the seller received your return. These stated no-claim conditions matter; do not assume the same calculation applies after a paid claim.
