State contract rules

Buying a vehicle service contract in South Carolina

South Carolina's Department of Insurance administers the Service Contracts Act, including provider registration and review of contract forms before use. Check the business obligated under the contract and ask for the state-specific form.

The department's guidance on the 2024 amendments describes notices for automatic renewals, sent 30 to 60 days before the cancellation deadline, with the renewal amount and cancellation method. If an offer renews automatically, check whether those provisions apply and retain the notice and your cancellation instructions.

Check with South Carolina Department of Insurance.
