Buying a vehicle service contract in North Carolina

For agreements covered by North Carolina's Article 43, the company must disclose before sale that the contract is not required to buy or finance the vehicle. The article has manufacturer, distributor and specified dealer exceptions; those distinctions matter when choosing which rules apply.

Section 66-372 requires covered agreements to let the consumer cancel and receive a prorated refund, less paid claims and a reasonable administrative fee capped at 10% of that prorated refund. Ask for the calculation and the applicable state provision in writing.
