State contract rules

Buying a vehicle service contract in New Hampshire

New Hampshire requires the obligor under a consumer guaranty contract to register with the insurance commissioner. The framework includes motor vehicle service contracts but excludes a manufacturer's service contract on its own products and other specified categories.

Since January 1, 2025, covered contract forms must be filed within 30 days of being offered, for information and audit purposes. Filing is not advance approval. Identify the obligor and ask which statutory category applies before treating a registration or filing as proof of coverage.

Check with New Hampshire Insurance Department.
