Buying a vehicle service contract in Minnesota

Minnesota's Attorney General says motor vehicle service-contract providers must register with the Department of Commerce and meet financial requirements through an allowed insurance, reserve or net-worth route.

The contract must identify the provider, administrator, seller and any insurer, and disclose price, coverage, exclusions, transfer restrictions and cancellation conditions. The state's guidance also describes a 10% monthly penalty for refunds not paid or credited within 45 days after return. Check which cancellation conditions your agreement satisfies.
