Buying a vehicle service contract in Louisiana

Louisiana defines a motor vehicle service contract separately from insurance. Its cancellation statute gives the original holder a full refund when no claim has been made and the contract is returned within 20 days of mailing, 10 days of delivery at sale, or a longer period allowed by the contract.

A refund not paid or credited within 45 days of the return carries a statutory 10% monthly penalty. Retain proof of when you received and returned the contract, and the provider's response. These early-return conditions do not establish the refund for every later cancellation.
