Buying a vehicle service contract in Indiana

Indiana's insurance guidance distinguishes a service contract from the reimbursement insurance behind it. Bulletin 78 describes conditions under which a non-manufacturer automobile contract is not itself insurance, including identifying the reimbursement insurer in the contract.

The reimbursement policy remains insurance. Ask for the insurer's legal name and the procedure to use if the provider fails to perform. Indiana publishes both its automobile-contract bulletin and later service-contract guidance in the department's bulletin library.
