Buying a vehicle service contract in Florida

Check the company in Florida OIR's registry. The agreement and sales brochure must identify the licensed insurer or service agreement company, its address and Florida license number.

Under §634.121, cancellation within 60 days returns the price paid minus claims; an administrative fee may be up to 5% of that price. After 60 days, cancellation by the holder returns at least 90% of the unearned pro rata amount, minus claims. Different rules apply when the company cancels.

The contract must disclose that OIR does not regulate its price. Assignment to a subsequent retail buyer is subject to the agreement's conditions, with a fee no higher than $40.
