State contract rules

Buying a vehicle service contract in Alaska

Alaska requires a license for a motor vehicle service-contract provider and registration for a service-contract administrator. A representative selling on behalf of the provider does not need a separate license for that role.

Check the provider and administrator as separate businesses. An individual salesperson's lack of a separate service-contract license is not, by itself, evidence that the provider is unauthorized. Ask the Division of Insurance to confirm the entity and product.

Check with Alaska Division of Insurance.
