What the Jeep records can tell us
Our Jeep database covers 7 nameplates: Cherokee, Compass, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, Wrangler, Renegade. Across 64 model-year entries, it contains 25,540 owner complaints. We do not know how many vehicles were on the road, so the count cannot tell us the share of vehicles with reported problems.
Electrical System appears most often among the tagged components, with 6,994 mentions. A single complaint may name several components. Check that system's contract terms, while keeping in mind that the count does not show how likely a repair is.
Across the same model years, NHTSA records show 427 recall campaigns and 27,691 manufacturer communications. Recall repairs are handled separately from a paid service contract, while communications include far more than defects.
