Buying a vehicle service contract in California

Buy a vehicle service contract through a DMV-licensed dealer, or consider mechanical breakdown insurance from a licensed insurer. Verify the obligor and any backup insurer. Chaiz does not offer direct purchases in California.

California Civil Code §1794.41 provides a full refund when no claim has been filed and cancellation follows the contract within 60 days of receipt, or 30 days for a used car without a manufacturer warranty. Later cancellation permits a partial refund; the cancellation fee may not exceed the smaller of $25 or 10% of the contract price.
