What the Chevrolet records can tell us
Our Chevrolet database covers 18 nameplates: Blazer, Bolt EUV, Bolt EV, Camaro, Colorado, Corvette, Cruze, Equinox, Impala, Silverado 1500, Silverado 2500, Suburban, Tahoe, Trailblazer, Traverse, Volt, Malibu, Trax. Across 168 model-year entries, it contains 30,416 owner complaints. We do not know how many vehicles were on the road, so the count cannot tell us the share of vehicles with reported problems.
Engine appears most often among the tagged components, with 7,029 mentions. A single complaint may name several components. Check that system's contract terms, while keeping in mind that the count does not show how likely a repair is.
Across the same model years, NHTSA records show 532 recall campaigns and 153,149 manufacturer communications. Recall repairs are handled separately from a paid service contract, while communications include far more than defects.
